Skills Gained
Empress's Favor
Mark | Dru's Mark is located across her lower back, which is to say, it's a tramp stamp. Centered on her spine is the number III in elegant font, topped by a stylized crown. It's framed by a sprawl of stylized stars, 6 on each side for a total of 12.
The Royal Treatment | Upon entering a Jaunt, possess clothing and accoutrements befitting the upper class, and a supply of local currency sufficient to explore how the other half lives for the duration of your stay. Infiltrators will automatically recognize you as a member of the upper class, though you will still have to make up a convincing lie about your identity if they ask you about it.

Sensory Livestreaming | The ability to project your sensory impressions across the psychic network. OOCly: this allows you to make audiovisual posts.

Empowered Item: Eye of the Holder | When held by its owner, this shapeshifting weapon can turn into any personal weapon that the user can envision themselves using. In practice, this limits the possibilities to any weapon that the person already has some knowledge of how to wield. The more familiar they are with its use, the quicker and easier the shift will be. If you've used a sword all your life but only held a spear once or twice, Eye of the Holder can turn into a sword at a split second thought but would require several moments of concentration to become a spear.
If it becomes a ranged weapon, it comes with one round of ammunition that will return to the weapon after every use. The same power allows the weapon to return to the user's hand if thrown or otherwise lost. The weapon can be identified by its unified aesthetic: mahogany and leather wrappings for hand grips, surface mazed with thin gold lines reminiscent of kintsugi, and a large eye-like jewel set somewhere prominent. It looks like a yellow-green stone with a streak of dark brown in the middle, polished into a smooth dome and set in bronze worked to resemble eyelids. Sometimes it blinks.
Digital Frontier: Legacy Mode
Lightcycle | An LED-lit baton that expands into an LED-lit motorcycle capable of projecting a solid wake. Can also go into "stealth mode," whereby the solid light wall and the LEDs are turned off. Post-Jaunt, Dru's will be blue and gold, and the light pattern will be much more ornate. Thanks, high elf aesthetics!

Date: 2018-03-11 08:16 pm (UTC)By the age of 18, Dru was a full member of their merry band. They took a job from a rich client who wanted them to retrieve an Empowered rifle. After a difficult heist, wherein it became apparent that the client had concealed some key details from them, the band returned to their client for both payment and reckoning. The client tried to double-cross them and in the ensuing fight, Dru's guardians all died while keeping her safe. Dru, now alone, killed the client and all his guards, took his money and the rifle, and set off to forge her own destiny.
Over the next few years, Dru became a soldier of fortune herself, typically working alone. She quickly developed a reputation as an outstanding fighter and trustworthy hire, and was known to take all sorts of jobs for the right price. Sometimes, it was said, she would take jobs for reduced or token fees if it pleased her. (This is normally mentioned in conjunction with altruism of a kind, but who knows the truth?) Her trademark weapon was the rifle she'd stolen from that first client, an Empowered weapon that is widely believed to be why she never misses a shot.
In fact, Dru's "never miss" record is because she's simply that good of a markswoman. Her rifle's actual ability is to shapeshift into any weapon on command, always returning to her hand if lost, and always having ammunition if ranged. In all its forms, the weapon retains some similarity of appearance, themed with wooden parts covered in oddly organic lines of gold. The weapon always incorporates an eye-like jewel on its body somewhere. (Sometimes it blinks.) The rifle Dru normally carries with her is a (fully functional!) replica of her weapon in its rifle form; the weapon itself takes the form of a hunting knife.
She was tossed into the Tower of London near the start of the war. Due to being at least nominally a British citizen, the government attempted to strongarm her into serving them for free, and Dru strongly declined the honor. She was summarily arrested -- killing at least one Manticore Knight in the process, or so they say -- and tossed into the Tower for treason and every other crime they could dig up.
In the Tower, Dru quickly became stir-crazy. She leaped at the suicide mission for the chance, however slim, of freedom. Her resentment toward the Crown for her imprisonment is well known. The possibility that she may betray the mission for money, revenge, or both, is very real. As is the possibility she'll run at the first opportunity.

Date: 2018-05-06 08:25 pm (UTC)A relatively young and restless program, DRU finds the militaristic culture of the Colossus to be boring and stifling. As a Defender, she frequently chafes at the emphasis on hierarchy and has undoubtedly clashed with her superiors. She's an adrenaline junkie who'd rather spend her free time in lightcycle races and disc battles -- and who is really damn good at both. As the result of winning many competitions, she has accumulated an impressive collection of tools and weaponry.
Her goal on this expedition is to largely to get out there, see something new, and have some fun. She's utterly undaunted by the danger and chance of failure. That said, she is not on this expedition entirely of her own volition. In her last lightcycle race, she humiliated a high Priority Miner program who is holding a not-insignificant grudge. As a result, she's on thin ice with the Defenders and at risk of being out-Priority'd by said Miner into an unpleasant fate. So she's had to skip town to prove herself to her superiors and and lay low til it all blows over.
